Elementary students hold American flags up above their heads while singing a patriotic song in the Evergreen large gym

Evergreen Elementary and Benjamin Middle School celebrated all veterans and honored those in Benjamin 25 families by hosting assemblies on Friday, November 11th.  The assemblies paid tribute to those who have served in times of peace and in times of war.

The Carol Stream Fire Department joined Evergreen Elementary in their Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of the day and said hello to the students.  The Carol Stream Police Department color guard also took part in assemblies at both Evergreen and Benjamin Middle School.

Both schools welcomed guest speakers from Honor Flight Chicago to share about their personal experiences with it.

Benjamin students are now raising money and writing cards for veterans who will be on the next Honor Flight.  Students from Evergreen donated many boxes of food to Blue Star Moms for use in their holiday care packages for soldiers.

From Benjamin District 25 to all our veterans,

Thank you for your service!
