What is BOKS?
BOKS is an acronym that stands for Build Our Kids’ Success. It is a morning exercise club hosted by Mr. Tylk that takes place on Monday and Thursday for 3rd grade and Tuesday and Thursday mornings for 4th grade throughout the school year. BOKS is only offered to 3rd and 4th grade students. If a 3rd or 4th grade student has a younger sibling in K-2nd grades, we will try to allow the sibling to join as well. BOKS starts the week of September 16 at 7:40 AM. The cost of the program is $25 for the entire year.
Please see below information regarding participation in BOKS.
Attendance: It is important that participants attend class whenever possible.
Drop-Off: 7:35-7:45 AM. Doors will not open until 7:35 AM. BOKS officially starts at 7:40 AM. Children coming to school by car may be dropped off near the Large Gym entrance (Door # 17) and allowed into the school by Mr. Tylk. If you do not see the large orange traffic cone outside Door #17, please remain in your car. For safety purposes, once the cone is removed and the gym doors are closed (7:45 AM) students must then use the front entrance to the school. Any child who walks or bikes to school must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at drop-off. This is for the safety of our students. After class, Mr. Tylk will dismiss the BOKS participants to their classrooms.
Shoes and Attire: Please send your child in sneakers and comfortable clothing. We will be very active. During the winter months it is best if they bring dry shoes to change into.
Water Breaks: The students will take water breaks using fountains or their own water bottles as needed.
Behavior: We expect our students to (SOAR) Stay Safe, Own their actions, Always be a leader, and Respect themselves and our school.
Illness: Please do not send your child to BOKS if they are sick. We follow the same illness policy as the school.
First Aid/CPR: The school nurse is not available during BOKS sessions, however, Mr. Tylk has access to a first aid kit and is certified in the use of CPR and AED machines.
