The music curriculum at Evergreen is taught to preschool through fourth grade students. Students should plan to have lots of fun and learn a lot! We are all musical, and my job as a music instructor is to get you in touch with the musical YOU! We will work in the areas of Orff, Kodaly, dance, movement, recorder, choral music, and theater.

Students will learn musical concepts like beat, rhythm, pitch, form, dynamics, tempo, and many more. We learn through singing games, music composition, music listening, and whole group activities. Although I teach using many different methods and activities, we follow the Kodaly sequence of teaching music.

Students will also learn and perform a musical performance with their classmates. Learning how to give a performance is an important skill that helps students learn things like responsibility, teamwork, and confidence.

Third and fourth grade students will work with the music software Music Ace. First through fourth grades will discover that music is EVERYWHERE using new iPads thanks to the Evergreen Foundation Grant. All grade levels will participate in some musical presentation during the school year.
