The optimistic and hopeful story of little orphan Annie who longs to find her parents. Stuck in an orphanage with the cantankerous Miss Hannigan, Annie and her orphan friends make the best of their crummy situation. Taking place during the Great Depression, Annie is selected by Grace Ferrell, private secretary to Oliver Warbucks, the billionaire, to spend Christmas with Mr. Warbucks at his home. Quickly warming her way into the hearts of his staff and Warbucks himself, Annie still hopes to find her real parents. With the help of Warbucks, Burt Healy, the radio announcer, and the President of the United States Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a search is launched to find Annie's parents. Back at the orphanage, Miss Hannigan is paid a visit by her brother Rooster and his new girlfriend. Together they hatch a plan to con Warbucks into giving them Annie and the reward money.
