Mini American flags lining the sidewalk and blowing in the wind

Evergreen Elementary and Benjamin Middle School celebrated all veterans and honored those in Benjamin 25 families by hosting assemblies on Friday, November 11th.  The assemblies paid tribute to those who have served in times of peace and in times of war.

The Carol Stream Fire Department joined Evergreen Elementary in their Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of the day and said hello to the students.  Evergreen also hosted a guest speaker representing Blue Star Moms to explain their mission to keep those serving abroad connected with their families and their hometowns.  Students from Evergreen donated many boxes of food to Blue Star Moms for use in their holiday care packages for soldiers.

The Carol Stream Police Department served as color guard for the Benjamin Middle School assemblies.  Benjamin also welcomed guest speakers from Honor Flight Chicago to talk about their personal experiences with it.  Benjamin students are now raising money and writing cards for veterans who will be on the next Honor Flight.

From Benjamin District 25 to all our veterans,

Thank you for your service!
