EDUCATION.

The Benjamin School District 25 Foundation for Educational Excellence is an Illinois nonprofit charitable organization founded in 2000 to enhance the quality of education in Benjamin School District 25. Though the Benjamin Foundation works closely with the School Board, it is independent from the school district and is governed by a volunteer board of trustees who are business leaders, parents and community leaders.

The Benjamin Foundation’s mission is to support, enhance and enrich educational opportunities for students in Benjamin School District 25 by providing funds for educational programs and initiatives that go beyond the normal limits of the school district operating budget. The Benjamin Foundation relies on individual, business and corporate donations, along with fund raising activities, to support these programs. Through your donations, the Benjamin Foundation has been able to purchase more than 100 books for its school libraries. The Benjamin Foundation is currently expanding its funding efforts to provide teachers and staff with the equipment and materials needed to implement innovative teaching methods and fully integrate technology into the curriculum.

Benjamin School District 25, founded as a farm community district more than 160 years ago, is one of the oldest, continuously operating school districts in the State of Illinois. Benjamin serves approximately 900 students, preschool through 8th grade, from Carol Stream and West Chicago, Illinois. The District consists of two schools – Evergreen Elementary School in Carol Stream and Benjamin Middle School in West Chicago. Graduates attend West Chicago Community High School.

Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) data from the Illinois School Report Card indicates our students consistently perform in the top 92 percent “meets and exceeds” ranking. This is due to our small class sizes, dedicated teachers, quality programming and committed parents and students.

It is the mission of the Benjamin School District to provide each child with the best educational opportunity to become a lifelong learner, achieve the highest personal growth and be a contributing member of society.

THE BENJAMIN FOUNDATION GOALS

The Benjamin Foundation will foster and strengthen partnerships between the schools and the local business and corporate community.

Funds will be used to enhance and enrich the educational opportunities for students beyond the normal limits of the School District’s operating budget.

Funds will be used for materials and equipment that may be needed to assist in integrating technology into school learning, teaching and communication.

The Benjamin Foundation will encourage educational excellence through creative teaching and faculty development.
